The Jefferson Debates

The U.S. Consulate in association with iLead (Institute of Leadership Entrepreneurship and Development) hosted the Jefferson Debates, a series of debate competitions for students, addressing some of today's most relevant and provocative issues. The debate heated up at the iLead Campus on 17th April 2015 at 2:00 pm.

The motion for the first debate was "The U.S.- India Relationship will Define Future Global Economic Growth".The debate duel was between 6 teams from the participating institutions: United world school of business, Loreto College, Jadavpur University, NSHM, ilead, Shri Shikshayatan College.

The American Center promotes mutual understanding between the people of the United States and Eastern India by organizing and supporting a wide range of educational and cultural programs and exchanges. Through information sharing with the public of Eastern India, The American Center promotes a greater understanding and appreciation of American culture to a cross-section of Indian society. The Public Affairs Section of The American Center utilizes a variety of tools in its outreach efforts. The Jefferson Debates is one such initiative.
