Session on CSR and Strategic Management by Dr. Lars Isaksson, Bond University

Corporate Social Responsibility or CSR as it is commonly known has recently gained a lot of importance because it is now mandatory for corporates to spend at least 2% of its profits on it. Through this management concept, companies are required to integrate social and environmental concerns into their business operations and interactions with their stakeholders.
Keeping the importance of CSR in mind, ILEAD has organized a session on CSR and Strategic Management on 6th July 2015 at its campus. Mr. Pradip Chopra, Chairman, ILEAD gave a welcome address to the crowd.
Dr. Lars Isaksson, Professor in Global Business Strategy, Bond University, Australia delivered an hour long talk on "CSR and Strategic Management". Dr. Isaksson has a vast experience on strategic management, concepts of strategy, leadership, cross-cultural management and international businesses. Apart from 7 years of academic lecturing Dr Isaksson carries +15 years of industry experience from over 50 countries. He consulted in B2B strategy, Solution Sales, Channel design, Business Development and Supply-Chain Management across a dozen of industries such as IT, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Retail, Oil & Fuel distribution and Utility operations, etc.
Dr. Isaksson's session was nicely contrasted by the talk delivered by Dr. P. Basak, Visiting Professor, National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur. Dr. Basak spoke about "CSR - Perspective from a layman". Dr P Basak is an M. Tech. and a PhD from IIT (Kanpur). He has been a Ford Foundation Fellow of MIT, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. Apart from being a republic day award winner for outstanding contribution in research, Dr Basak's research publications have been published in top scientific journals from across the world including USA, Canada, Europe and Australia. Some of the topics covered during the seminar are: New CSR regulations for Corporate India, Achieving corporate objectives through CSR, Corporate reputation management through CSR, Building brand through CSR, Peripheral benefits of CSR and CSR as a marketing tool. The seminar was attended by personnel from HR and marketing departments of corporates, NGOs, CSR Professionals, Government officials, etc. Representatives from CESC Limited, VVM De-addiction Research Center, N K Realtors, Tata Consultancy Services, Kamdebpur Rural Development Society, RECA, etc to name a few.
