Inspire Internship Science Camp 2019

iLEAD organized Inspire Internship Science Camp from July 5th to July 9th 2019 in association with Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.
The event is organized every year to inspire school students to take up any branch of science as their academic or research subject.
Some of the schools that took part in the event included Pannalal Institution - Kalyani, Kanchrapara Harnett High School, Bhatpara High School and many more. During the camp breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner were arranged for the students.
The 5 day program witnessed Scientists, Researchers and Professors from distinguished institutes and universities conducting theoretical and practical laboratory sessions with students. For the first 3 days, students were exposed to various practical laboratory experiments. For example - In Physics, they learnt to make charger circuits at home. The Chemistry lab included a practical session on 'War of Colors' by using different chemicals. In Biology lab session, they learnt 'Blood Grouping'. Similarly, there had been lab sessions on Computer, Mathematics and Digital Technology.
Day 1
The day started with the inaugural ceremony. Mr. Pradip Chopra, Chairman of iLEAD, gave the welcome speech followed by a keynote address by Dr. U. K. Neogi.
The Guest of Honor, Ms. Manoshi Roy Chowdhury, spoke on team work and motivation. Mr. Rabindra Kumar Subba, the Chief Guest, talked about importance of emotional intelligence, hard work, sustained effort and determination.
The session started on Day 1 with Prof. Gautam Basu. His topic of lecture was 'When intelligent people become unintelligent by design' followed by another session by Dr. Paramita Roy, who spoke on "The Student Scientist: What works and what doesn't".
The evening's motivational meet included quiz competition, welcome song and music.
Day 2
The session on the 2nd day started off with Prof. Soumya Chokraborty. His topic of lecture was "Who Is Afraid of Black Holes?".
The 2nd session was conducted by Prof. Papiya Nandy. She spoke on "Science study for India's future".
Dr. Arindam Raha was the third mentor of the day. He conducted a session on "Fun with Science".
The day ended with an event of debate competition, solo song and recitation.
Day 3
The 3rd day began with Mr. Samar Bagchi and Mr. B.N. Das speaking on "Experimental Diversities in Physics".
In the pre-dinner motivational sessions, students enjoyed the one to one interaction, musical chair and pillow passing activities.
Day 4
Dr. Ashis Kumar Das started off the session on 4th day with a lecture on "Plate Tectonics and evolution of earth".
Dr. D.P Duari conducted the next session. He talked about "Concept and Challenges in Astrophysics".
The third session of the day was conducted by Dr. Amitava Gupta. He spoke on "Toy Story: the science behind toys".
Students also took part in an essay competition followed by exhibition of iLEAD Productions' Film 1971:India's Finest Hour.
The evening session constituted of musical performances, recitation, instrument guitar and dance.
Day 5
The final day of the camp had Dr. Maitree Bhattacharyaa and Dr. Shreya Ghosh conducting the sessions. Their respective topics were "Chemistry fixes the rule of the Protein folding game" and "The Science Behind a Smile".
An exhibition focusing on innovation also took place towards the evening followed by a valedictory session.
In the final event of the day, certification and prize distribution ceremony took place followed by a vote of thanks by Dr. U. K. Neogi.
