Independence Day Celebration

Event On : 15 Aug 2016

On India's 70th Independence Day, iLEAD students had put up a program set to enthrall the Chief Guest- Sub inspector of Pragati Maidan Police Station (near Science City, Kolkata), Mr. Piyush Kumar Baul, besides the faculties, staff members and students. At 10 in the morning, everyone assembled at the rooftop, where the Indian flag was hoisted by the Guest, in the presence of iLEAD's Executive Director Ms. Pragya Chopra. As the flag unfurled, the national anthem was sung.

iLEAD has its unique bank of talents, who through sheer creativity never fails to mesmerize the audience. After the flag hoisting, everyone at the iLEAD auditorium appreciated the performance by the students from start to end.

Mayad Agarwal of BBA Sem 3 recited a famous poem - "Maat Baaton Insaan Ko" by Vinay Mahajan. This poem is a plea to the people to stop the spree of divisions among nation's people since there are already too many partitions among regions and people.

iLEAD prides in having students from diverse religious and linguistic backgrounds. This is a reflection of India's diversity too. A mime act and dance recital by the students showcased a protest against the communal disharmony and the support towards national coherence envisioned by the father of the nation - Mahatma Gandhi.

After this, there was a song performance that addressed the craving of nonresidential Indians who settled on foreign lands to be in unison with the motherland's spirit and also people inside the country who wish to return to the drumbeat of the nation.

At a time when the country is plagued with problems galore, celebrating unity and remembering our country's heroes who fought tirelessly to win us freedom helps people bond better, particularly the present generation. Homage and tribute aside, the institute did not forget to treat its students and staff members to food packets, which marked the end of a glorious morning.
