iLEAD launched its new initiative of Edutalk on 11th May 2019. The event witnessed Dr. Lisa Mills, Associate Professor at the University of Central Florida conducting a session on 'The Changing Language of Documentaries'.

Dr. Lisa Mills who have been a broadcast journalist for 25 years is now a renowned documentary filmmaker and a Professor at University of Central Florida's Nicholson School of Communication and Media.

She is presently shooting for a documentary film in West Bengal's Barrackpore. The film's working title is  'Vimal's Dream' which concentrates on the movement of a scavenger community and a community activist bringing hope to his community.

During iLEAD's first Edutalk, she spoke about contemporary documentary audience, their expectations, future of non-fiction genre, importance of balancing information with entertainment, the OTT platforms giving exposure to documentary films, content co-creation, future of documentary production, distribution and storytelling.

She also talked about different types of documentary films like 360 degree documentary, animated documentary or serialized documentary.

Dr. Lisa Mills gave the audience an opportunity to take a look at a new gadget for shooting unframed documentary films - The 360 degree camera.

Two documentary films made by the students of University of Central Florida were exhibited to the audience.

The event ended with Dr. Lisa Mills and her students engaging into a question answer session with the present audience.
