BSc. General

Duration: 3 Years

The institute is offering B.Sc (General) degree course with the subjects - Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Zoology and Botany. The expert faculty of iLEAD will be mentoring the students. Program Structure

The 96 credits for the B. Sc. Program are to be spread over three categories of courses as given below: 

Foundation Courses -24 Credits

Elective Courses - 56 to 64 Credits

Application- Oriented Courses-  8 to  16  Credits

Awareness Course on Environment -Nil

Total - 96 Credits


Credit System:  The University follows a credit system for its Bachelor's Degree Program in Science. Each credit amounts to 30 hours of study comprising all learning activities. Thus, a four credit course involves 120 hours of study and an eight credit course involves 240 hours of study. To complete this program successfully, a student will have to earn 96 credits over a period of 3 to 6 years, depending on his/her convenience. However, he/she will not be allowed to earn more than 32 credits in a year.

Evaluation: The evaluation consists of two components: (1) continuous evaluation through assignments, and (2) term-end examination. Students must pass in both these components of a course to earn the credits assigned to that course. In the final result, the assignments of a theory course carry 30% weightage while 70% weightage is given for the term-end examination. Term-end examinations are held twice a year - in the months of June and December.

Evaluation of laboratory courses: Each and every experiment performed is evaluated. Evaluation of experiments, which are performed under the guidance of the counsellor, constitutes continuous evaluation and carries 70 per cent weightage. On the other hand, the evaluation of unguided assigned experiment(s), performed during the last session of lab course carries 30 per cent weightage and constitutes term-end evaluation.

 

Subjects:


Physics
Physics is a natural science that involves the study of matter and its motion through space time, along with related concepts such as energy and force. More broadly, it is the general analysis of nature, conducted in order to understand how the universe behaves. The duration of the course is three years and the syllabus is divided into six semesters. The degree course is very important and valuable as it is job oriented in nature that opens wide spread scopes for the candidates after its completion not only in educational field but also in many other areas. The course is being offered by many colleges/universities throughout the country.


Chemistry
Chemistry deals with the science of matter and the changes it undergoes. The science of matter is also addressed by physics, but while physics takes a more general and fundamental approach, chemistry is more specialized, being concerned with the composition, behavior, structure, and properties of matter, as well as the changes it undergoes during chemical reactions. B.Sc. (Chemistry) is a physical science course which studies various substances, atoms, molecules, crystals and other aggregates of matter whether in isolation or combination and which incorporates the concepts of energy and entropy in relation to the spontaneity of chemical processes. B.Sc. in Chemistry is of three years duration course having six semesters.


Mathematics
Mathematics is the study of quantity, structure, space, and change. Mathematicians seek out patterns and formulate new conjectures. B.Sc. in Mathematics is generally three academic year course and it may be provided on part time basis by certain institutes. The degree course is very important and career oriented in nature. It is being provided by many colleges/universities in the country. After completing the course candidates have a lot of job scopes in various areas.


Botany
Botany, plant science or plant biology is a branch of biology that involves the scientific study of plant life. Botany covers a wide range of scientific disciplines concerned with the study of plants, algae and fungi, including structure, growth, reproduction, metabolism, development, diseases, chemical properties and evolutionary relationships among taxonomic groups. Botany began with early human efforts to identify edible, medicinal and poisonous plants, making it one of the oldest sciences. The course structure of these courses are designed while keeping in mind the market demand for skilled and efficient professionals who can effectively cater to the demands of growing botanical industry. Bachelor of Science in Botany is of three years duration course and the syllabus for the course is divided into six semesters.


Zoology
Zoology is the branch of biology which relates to the animal kingdom, including the structure, embryology, evolution, classification, habits, and distribution of all animals, both living and extinct. Bachelor of Science in Zoology is three years duration course and the syllabus is divided into six semesters. After successfully completing the B.Sc. Zoology course, a student has a great future ahead. There are many colleges/universities which are providing the degree course in their campuses in the country. The course is career oriented in nature that opens many jobs for them after its completion.
